I need to be very clear: I am talking about Morpheus8/RF microneedling here, not regular microneedling. I did three sessions on my face and neck in 2023 and felt I lost facial fat, especially in my cheeks. It took me forever to recover from that, and I did not feel the tightening result justified the damage.
I would never do it again on my face. On my belly, it was a different story. I did three sessions there, and because fat loss on the belly was not a concern, I felt the skin elasticity improved.

What It Is
RF microneedling combines needles with radiofrequency energy. Morpheus8 is InMode's fractional RF microneedling platform. It is used for skin contraction, acne scars, texture and tightening, but it is not the same as regular microneedling.
Moxie covers it with a major split: body use made sense for her, face use did not.
How It Works
The needles create controlled channels while RF energy heats tissue at selected depths. The intended response is collagen remodeling, contraction and improved texture. Because energy can reach deeper tissue, depth and settings matter enormously.
This is why fat loss is a concern in the face when aggressive settings or depth are used. It should not be sold as a simple version of microneedling.
The Evidence

Loss of firmness, acne scarring, crepey skin and rough texture, addressed via skin contraction and remodeling (body and face, with major caveats on face fat loss).
Device clearance carries important safety caveats. InMode describes Morpheus8 as FDA-cleared for fractional radiofrequency soft tissue contraction, and FDA documents describe the device as RF technology for dermatologic applications. Clearance is not the same as risk-free. Depth, training and patient anatomy determine whether it is appropriate.
Morpheus8 (fractional RF microneedling) has clinical support from prospective cohort studies and smaller trials showing improvement in skin laxity and texture, with growing but still limited large-scale independent RCT data compared to more established RF/ultrasound tightening devices.

What to Expect
Step 1 - Consultation: Area, skin tone, fat distribution and scar/laxity depth are assessed. Step 2 - Numbing: Strong topical numbing is common. Step 3 - The procedure: Needles stamp into skin while RF energy is delivered. Step 4 - Immediately after: Redness, swelling, tenderness and grid-like marks can happen.
Avoid sun and actives. Step 5 - Timeline and maintenance: Results build over weeks to months; multiple sessions are common.
